I only picked up two books this week, and turned in five. The End of Yearathon last week helped me make a little bit of headway on my library books!

I picked up a physical copy of Tasha Suri’s Empire of Sand, and checked out a romance on my Kindle, The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie. I was told the hero is autistic. We’ll see how the book presents it, though I’m side-eyeing that title (and the blurb on Goodreads) pretty hard. The author has verified her hero is autistic, she just couldn’t say it in the novel as there wasn’t a term for it at that point in history. Well. I will read it, confer with my #actuallyautistic husband, and report back!

I picked up two nonfiction books on chronic illness this week. Surviving and Thriving with an Invisible Chronic Illness: How to stay sane and live one step ahead of your symptoms and Are You Tired and Wired? Your Proven 30-day Program for Overcoming Adrenal Fatigue and Feeling Fantastic Again.

On my second visit to the library this week, I picked up the sequel to Bright Smoke, Cold Fire, Endless Water, Starless Sky. Really excited to read it, as I LOVED the first one. Rosamund Hodge is amazing.

Just two books this week – last week was super busy with my husband’s graduation, and the first part of this week was Christmas, of course! (I hope everyone got lots of books!) Today is the first day of the End of Yearathon, so I’ll be reading a lot this next week. The two books I picked up this week are a graphic novel (that I read immediately!) and a much-anticipated new release.

I turned in six books and checked out six books this week!

The ones I’m most excited about are Damsel, Vox, and Blanca & Roja. I also checked out Jackaby, which is the first in a series. I probably should not have done that. The last two are The Price Guide to the Occult, about a witch in the Pacific Northwest, where I’m from, and How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe, which looks time-travel-y and crazy and all kinds of meta and twisty. I can’t wait to dive into this batch, but my husband’s father is in town for my husband’s college graduation, so we’re running all over the place right now. Things should calm down tomorrow evening, and maybe I’ll finally be able to sit down and read!

My husband dropped by the library on his way home, and walked in the door with that look on his face. You know that look. That look that says he thinks I have a problem. It might be because he turned in two books for me – and picked up SIX. Ooops.

Give the Dark My Love is about a necromancer lady, and MAN I LOVE THOSE. The Sisters of the Winter Wood is one I wish I’d gotten my hands on before last week’s Winter-themed Top Ten Tuesday! A Blade So Black is an Alice in Wonderland retelling and I do enjoy those as well!

How to be Sick is a “Buddhist-inspired guide for the chronically ill and their caregivers” which sounded interesting. Royals I’m mostly reading because the second book in the series is an f/f contemporary royalty romance and I am all about that. Black Wings Beating is a queer fantasy with a falconry theme, and it sounds fascinating.

I didn’t have one of these last week because, for once, I didn’t check anything new out of the library! I know, weird, right?

This week, however, I checked out five, and they are all amazing!

Brandon Sanderson’s newest, Skyward, is more for my husband than for me, but I’ll still read it. He’s the Sanderson fanboy though! Heidi Heilig’s For A Muse Of Fire finally got to me and I am SO EXCITED about that! The Spy With the Red Balloon, sequel to Girl with the Red Balloon, also finally got to me. Unbroken is an anthology of stories about teens with disabilities, and Annalee, in Real Life involves a girl using an MMO to avoid her social anxiety.
